all I wanna do is have some fun

I had two hours in between my classes today, and instead of doing anything productive I window shopped on the internet (is there a term for that?) for approximately an hour & a half. Luckily for me, my friend Brittany wanted to go shopping today so we left as soon as we finished with classes. And all I bought were summer clothes...two dresses and a beautiful floral tank and various floral jewelry...I am craving summer so, so bad. I'm tired of sweaters and thick tights and boots, I'm ready for sundresses and sandals and swim-suits-under-clothes. I got a small taste of 70 degree weather in New Orleans, and it just made me even more anxious for summer! counting down the days.

"Summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language." -Henry James, I feel ya.
(this picture is of two of my girlfriends at Lake Cushman in Washington last summer, on a 104 degree afternoon)

be the change you seek.

New Orleans was amazing, powerful, beautiful, heart-breaking, mind-stretching, fun, exhausting, spiritual...and a multitude of other things. Such a great week, I will make a long post about it as soon as I have time to sit in a coffee shop for a couple hours.

strawberries and grapes

In approximately 18 hours, I will be making my way to New Orleans! I'm going with 26 lovely people, working with an organization called United Saints cleaning up stuff still left from Hurricane Katrina. I'm still in the (slow) process of packing (I am so horrible at packing - I pack about 3x as many things as necessary, and it is always a painful process), but I am getting more excited by the second! I will post all about it when I get home in a week.
Also, just as a side note - the sun is shining, I have Phoenix blasting, I am drinking an iced mocha, and eating green grapes and strawberries - I am a happy girl.

I'm coming home again

One of the best parts about being home are the slow mornings - containing homemade breakfast treats made with fruit fresh from the garden and a mocha made sleepily with our espresso machine (one of the things I miss most in college). As I've said before, I love breakfast foods so much! And waking up realizing I have nowhere to be is one of the best feelings in the world. Slow mornings.

And! during one of my slow mornings while at home this week, my very special friend Sam came by to catch up. He has been in China for the last 3 months, ministering and travelling and helping wherever he could. He told me that the trip broke his heart and put it back together again, 10x as big. They even visited leper colonies...his stories from the trip were amazing. It is so great to hear from my friends who are really, really living to their greatest potential. So great to catch up with him, and he gave me some Chinese money and a four leaf clover that he found in China! One of the best souveniers I've ever gotten, besides red Chanel lipstick from London of course.

everyday occurences

these are the sorts of things that make standing in lines more bearable. Thank you, to whoever decided to tag these! They're fun.

this makes me so happy

more sunny days

Spring is coming, I can feel it. Though it is bitter freezing in the shady spots today, when I walked through downtown there was sun on my back and I'm wearing my favorite sandals - hoping that silent protest of winter will convince the spring weather to just stick around & drive the cold right out until summertime.
my mom sends me pictures of my beautiful pup, Huckleberry Finn, almost everyday and it is the most bittersweet thing. If you know me at all, you know he is my pride and joy - I miss him so much! Look how handsome he is! Smart, too. I get to see him in about 8 days, thank goodness.

& a few downtown shots. I love where I live, I am a lucky girl.

Reason #336 why I wish I was a millionaire.

I am obsessed with Vera Wang's ready-to-wear collections for 2010...sigh.
