Bellingham LookBook by Matthew Land

Last week I had an opportunity to take some photos with a wonderful local photographer, Matt Land, for a fashion project he's just starting on. He is a wedding photographer looking to merge into fashion a bit more, and is putting together a Bellingham Look Book, a coffee table book featuring local fashion "with an edge". A mutual friend got us in contact and we planned to do some photos the next week...until the sun just happened to show its face last Sunday and I got a last-minute email saying "the sun's out...can you do today?" Admittedly, I was wearing a flannel and a messy bun (lazy Sunday, you can't blame me) so I had to run home & change into something mildly acceptable, but we had a great time! Here are a few he sent me, I'm excited to see the rest! He has a tres chic website & a wonderful blog, and a love for Bellingham that definitely shows. Check him out!

proof that I still get dressed every day

Hey, you guys, in case you were wondering...I still get dressed every day. Sometimes I even put real, semi-stylish outfits together. Sometimes. This is my first outfit post since September, I'm ashamed to admit--I'm telling you, two week staycations can do amazing things for the soul (and the blog).

I just came home after spending a week at my parents', and it was such a wonderful visit... lots of time with my family, puppy cuddles, Seattle visits with sushi and shopping and rain, Les Mis with my mama (so beautiful), naps and laughs and all of the things that the holidays should brim with. Now I'm back in my city & enjoying my last few days before I return to work on Wednesday. It has been so joyful for me to spend the days doing things I"m passionate about, including getting back to my own blog AND catching up on all of your inspiring blogs, and updating my vintage shop. One of my resolutions for 2013 is to make time to keep up with these things even when I go back to my crazy internship schedule, because these are the things that keep me feeling creative and motivated and inspired. And that's what life should be, n'est-ce pas?

bare legs & frog legs

This week it was FINALLY warm enough to go without tights! Which is slightly bittersweet because it made me realize just how pale my poor Washington legs are, but I was so overjoyed to see the sun that I couldn't waste time caring about such things. I literally skipped around town: Spring is here!
You've seen this dress before, all wrapped up in tights and boots, and it is still one of my favorites. The star print on it makes me want to read a book about astronomy, or at least a Kurt Vonnegut book about space travel...it also makes me want to twirl about, but that's another story.

A few other photos from my week:
Last weekend some friends & I participated in the Bellingham Art Walk, where different venues all over downtown display various mediums of art. We grabbed drinks & frog legs first then saw a few of the exhibits including a toaster art gallery, art done by prison inmates, and art made from recycled books. Events like this are of the reasons I love living here. Also, frogs legs aren't bad. Just try 'em.

What do y'all have planned for the weekend? Here's hoping for more sunshine!
