local goods: Gypsies and Ginger Snaps

Sometimes the best things in life are the things you stumble onto. Like the friend you meet in the most unexpected place, the amazing restaurant you find after getting lost in the middle of nowhere, the guy you meet after swearing you'll be single for a while....etc etc. Or sometimes, you're walking with a friend and you see the sign above on the street, wander into an alley, and find the most adorable shop you've ever seen.
After an unsuccessful thrifting trip, my lovely friend Megan & I happened upon local shop Gypsies and Ginger Snaps and basically died of cuteness. They have everything from dresses, jewelry, and shoes to tiny animal figurines, candles, purses, sassy decor, and even espresso. Basically, the essentials. Some vintage, some new, and some in-between. The dream of owning a vintage & handmade shop is always humming in the back of my mind & perusing Gypsies and Ginger Snaps made that hum just a l-i-i-ittle bit louder.
I picked out a few precious little things for a loved one, but in case she reads this, I'll keep them a secret.
If you are in the Bellingham area, you must pop in to this shop. Bring a friend to ooh & aah over the items with--and, it is conveniently located right next to the Honey Moon, so you can wander over for happy hour after. Best. Day. Ever.

afternoon antiquing

I learned everything I know about thrifting/antiquing from my mama, so taking her to one of my favorite antique spots in Bellingham last week was so fun! I'm not currently allowed to buy any more knick-knacks, since I have to be able to fit all of my possessions in my car come September (sighhh), so enabling others to buy them instead works well for me right now. What better way to spend a sleepy Sunday afternoon?

black, mint, pink

and another classic 90s piece: the Gap maxi skirt, before maxi skirts were a thing. I love the print on this, soft pink blossoms on a pastel mint fabric. Easy & breezy & perfect for spring. for sale in my shop here!

life is the busiest it's ever been. the last quarter of my internship is filled to the brim, and planning for the next stage of life is in full swing (california continues to hum my name..). yesterday was a busy, busy Sunday, but in the best way: photos & video editing & vintage measuring filled my day. my sweet, handsome boyfriend wandered over with face-kisses every now and then. I took a break to make quinoa & brussel sprouts sauteed with bacon & garlic. The hours went quickly, but were spent well.

Making time for creative endeavors fills me with satisfaction & peace.
six new spring pieces added to the shop here. xo!

spring has sprung

happy first day of SPRING! though I am currently under 3 blankets, listening to the rain pound against my window, I have hope that the sun will come out eventually. And seriously, these pieces are some of my favorite we've ever sold. Browse our spring line!

on sundays, creative energy, and spring fashion

My internship keeps me so busy and, though I love the work I do, it tends to take all of my creative energy. So when I get a Sunday afternoon that I can devote to vintage and photos, writing and simple beauty, it is a rare and wonderful occasion. Here's a sampling of pieces I'll be listing this week. Spring fashion is coming!

vintage love

six new pieces added to the shop! I'm kind of in-love with all of these pieces...especially that baby pink sweater, and the silk floral midi, and that structured 80s blazer...basically, all of them. But I'm willing to give them away to good homes. Now I'm off to eat Thai food & veg a bit. Visit East Magnolia Vintage to see these six items + many more! xo.

ps: many thanks for the sweet thoughts re: meeting the family...I think it went well! More on that + photos in my next post. ;)

my little corner of the world

I just found these photos of my room, taken last September & forgotten about. Though my internship and my life keep me constantly running around & therefore not home very often, my room is my small sanctuary--few things feel better than curling up in my bed with my Kindle & a hot chai at the end of a crazy day. I had just moved in when these were taken, so it's a little more cluttered now, a little messier, a little more me, a little more lived in. There are some knick-knacks added, several new books stacked about, winter coats and hats hung on bedposts, and two mason jars full of silver glitter sitting on my desk that are serving as decor until I decide on something fabulous to do with allll that glitz. It's my little corner of the world, and I love it.
