I stole this picture from my daily Who What Wear email, because I love these three outfits so much! I like how they are all classy and chic but look completely effortless. I love the texture in the middle dress & I'm a sucker for anything Michelle Williams wears, but my favorite out of these 3 is Rachel Bilson: she's barefoot with a ponytail and still somehow manages to look totally put-together. Fashion-wise, Rachel can basically get away with murder.

Friday Friday Friday
Today I:
registered for a great Fall 2010 class schedule,
will sign a lease beginning September 5 for an adorable apartment with some fabulous girls, &
will get to see my boyfriend for the first time in 2 weeks! good day.
A few apartment ideas: we want a ton of mirrors and/or frames in the living room (I already have a great mirror with a thick gold frame to go above the fireplace!) and I want this tree tapestry from Urban to go over one wall in my room. Cannot wait to adventure through antique shops and second-hand stores for furniture/accents with my mom this summer, she is seriously professional at it. Decorating will be so fun!

observations
The weather lately has been so springy - light and sunshine-y and in the next second windy and pouring down rain. Similar to my moods, lately. Ready for summer moods instead!

steal some covers, share some skin
Sunday afternoons and I have settled into a quiet routine of a nap, coffee, Pandora, and homework. The last few weeks, sunshine has been added to that list, making the afternoons melt into evenings in the most pleasant way. What will I do with these afternoons once summer comes and there is no more homework to be reserved for Sundays?
Can't wait to find out!

through the eyes of a fish
walked down to my favorite coffee shop to study today (Social Psychology exam tomorrow...), snapping fish-eye pictures all the way down because it is BEAUTIFUL outside and downtown Bellingham is full of photo-ops. I really love my $40 plastic fish-eye film camera, it has served me well the last couple years. Going back to film cameras also brings back the element of surprise - you never know how your picture will turn out until you get it developed, which is always fun for me! some of my favorite pictures taken with my cute little Japanese-looking cam:

weekend update
This past weekend I was home for Mother's Day - it was in the 70s all weekend and the sun was out, everything was green. We grilled steaks & fresh veggies, had corn on the cob, and had music floating through speakers as we ate on the deck. I picked an amazing bouquet, barefoot, from my mom's garden, and we had light conversation while Huckleberry Finn sat at our feet. Summer is coming!

Clinton Kelly, fashion guru
This was such a great weekend, fashion-wise. To summarize, I was in the Alderwood Mall for 6+ hours on Saturday - had to be a great weekend right? I went with 2 of my future roommates to Clinton Kelly's Make Over America event, where he's touring 12 cities and making over real women. They apply, and if chosen they get to have a day of shopping with him, get their hair and make up done by professionals, and then strut their stuff in a fashion show, which is what we got to watch. If you don't know (and you really should know) Clinton Kelly is one of the hosts of What Not to Wear, and he's always the author of "Freakin' Fabulous: How to Dress, Speak, Behave, Eat, Drink, Entertain, Decorate, and Generally Be Better than Everyone Else". He was so great in person! He gave a little intro, and had a couple people come up who wanted their outfits critiqued. One woman came up with a sloppy ponytail, a bright blue velour jumpsuit (kid you not) with a giant gray hoodie over the sweatshirt and tennis shoes. Needless to say, he ripped her apart (her excuse was that she was hungover, which he did not accept). The fashion show was great, because all of the woman looked so much better but more than that looked so happy and confident! Confidence is the best accessory. Afterwards, he did a Q&A time where I got to ask him his advice on mixing prints in outfits, which I love it do. Coincidentally, it is one of his "absolute favorite things to do" and he even made a Beyonce/Destiny's Child reference in his answer...how could I possibly love him more? He was full of fashionably inspiring one-liners, such as "You shouldn't let anything in your life block you from feeling fabulous. If you hate your whole wardrobe, get rid of it. That goes for people too..if someone in your life is keeping you from being fabulous, dump the chump!" or "Yeah, everything looks good on a model. But I don't dress models, I dress real women!" He talked about the absolute ability to look your best while still looking comfortable (you hear that, Pacific Northwest? it's more than possible) and how much he loves Seattle. I could go on, but I'll just say that hearing someone talk about fashion is never, ever boring to me.
Also, I did some great shopping this weekend. At Urban I got a pair of shoes, two shirts, a so so soft cardigan, and a blazer for only $75! This weekend I also got a great striped pencil skirt for approx $7 and a gorgeous dress marked down from $200 to $138. If you're anything like me, you know what a good feeling it is to literally save hundreds of dollars while buying amazing things. Retail-wise, I am oh-so-satisfied.
