when it's cold outside.

when it's cold outside:
wake up slow & lazily bake scones, to be eaten with homemade jam that tastes like summer.
snuggle up with coffee for two.
love that guilty pup.
bake wonderful things from 1950s Betty Crocker: made with lots of love + lots of butter.
pick the perfect tree.
admire the cold, clear, blue-grey sky.
sit around the table with people who know you inside & out and somehow, some way, love you the most in the world. eat, laugh.
drink red wine & tell your favorite stories, over and over.

how do you stay warm in the winter chill? share your cozy tips. xo.

what I'm baking

Two things I've been doing a lot of lately: baking and browsing Pinterest. Luckily for me, these things go hand-in-hand. A few things I've made lately, all found on Pinterest:
Frozen Peppermint Cheesecake, recipe found here.
Samoas Cookie Bars, recipe found here.
buttermilk biscuit sticky buns, recipe found here.

Recently I've also made French Dip in crescent rolls, energy bites, crockpot chicken chili, cranberry white chocolate muffins, and turkey lettuce wraps, all from Pinterest and all devoured before I could get a picture in. I recommend them all! The energy bites are perfect with coffee for breakfast on-the-go, and they are great because you can basically put in whatever mixings you have in your pantry. I'm also making these Nutella cupcakes for a get-together tonight--yes please.

Baking has become something therapeutic for me, something that relaxes me after a stressful or long day. Raleigh and I bake together and/or for each other often too, which is a lovely way to spend time together in our busy lives. I also love being a hostess, part of which is giving away baked goods to people I love. Basically, food boards on Pinterest are my new favorite thing. Come follow me so we can share more recipes!

What relaxes you after a long day? Also, have any must-try recipes for me? holla at me! xoxo Charity

Thanksgiving Details

(Huckleberry Finn staring longingly at the turkey)
In true Charity form, I got too excited about taking photos of food and forgot to take photos of people--my b. I just can't help myself. Not to mention we had a TON of food just begging to be photographed. And lots of champagne begging to be drank. And too much pie to eat, as if we weren't already all stuffed.
Luckily my uncle took a few photos, so I snagged this last one from him. We had a wonderful evening full of family, food, catching up, board games, and more food. It's been a difficult year for our family in a lot of ways but there is always, always so much to be thankful for. And always more pie to eat.

I hope those of you who celebrate it had a perfect Thanksgiving! Now we're moving full speed ahead into Christmas--but more importantly, my 21st birthday. Just sayin'.

this week on Pinterest

Everything I want to buy/make/eat/wear this week:

Excuse my absence but believe me, you do not want to see photos of my appearance from the past week--bad hair days seem to be following me lately. Furthermore, this week has been insane! I finally got to clean my room at around midnight last night, and I already feel more collected/sane. Now all I have to do is whip out a paper on Thoreau and Nature, write 500 words of flap copy, turn it all in, get my costume(s) together, and enjoy the weekend. I can't wait to see photos from all your Halloween fun! Are you guys ready?

First Annual Pumpkin Party

In case you haven't had enough pumpkin in your life yet this Autumn, I bring you photos of my good friend Josh's first annual pumpkin party! He has had avocado parties the last two Springs & decided to kick it up a notch with this Fall's Pumpkin Party. I have another outfit post ready to go, but taking photos of food is one of my favorite things to do, so you get these first.

pumpkin muffins
pumpkin cake with cider sauce
pumpkin chocolate chip muffins
pumpkin spice cake
pumpkin white chocolate cookies
pumpkin chocolate chip cookies--this is what I made, recipe found on Pinterest here.
pumpkin pecan cheesecake
pumpkin smoothie

There was also pumpkin butter, pumpkin mashed potatoes, curry pumpkin black bean soup (apparently it was a Rachel Ray recipe, and it was amazing), and a pumpkin/sweet potato casserole. The house smelled heavenly. I'm not sure if I've ever felt more Autumn-y than I did in those couple hours.

Have you made any Autumn dishes yet, classic or new?
