I'm going to repeat what every other blogger seems to be saying right now: sorry for such scattered posts! I just started a new job and am trying to balance that with final projects, presentations, papers, and exams. I've taken barely any pictures in the last two weeks, and it's killing me! I miss having my camera in my hands. Luckily I am heading home this weekend for a wedding & two big family parties (my father's birthday & my brother's official mark of 20 years cancer-free, hallelujah!) so I will get to take a ton of fun photos. I'm itchin' to take some. I'll leave you with the list of items I need to acquire before summer:
-floral flats, preferably w/pinks & greens worked in
-some comfy Oxfords
-a cropped denim jacket (never thought I would say that)
-a black leather purse, large enough to fit my laptop (I'm a sucker for tiny side bags, but they never fit my computer, which goes almost everywhere with me)
-classic Raybans (pending on how big my first paycheck is)
-more sun dresses, obvs. I think I need one more maxi & I should be covered.
-coral lipstick
-a brown, braided skinny belt
Gaaaah, I can't stop thinking about going shopping. Thank God I'm now making more money than I'm spending, for the first time in a whiiiiile. Lots to look forward to in the next couple months! If I can only make it through finals...

Met Gala 2011
I saved this WhoWhatWear collage from an email I got a few weeks ago because I was so in love with all of these outfits. I just came across it again this morning and can't help but share it--how major are all of these looks? I love them all in different ways.
Jessica Stam's look is the dress we all wanted to wear when we were 5, but the grown-up version: the beautiful, sweet ballerina princess we all wanted to be as little girls (and some of still want to be now).
I'm also obsessed with Ginnifer Goodwin's look--I've never seen her look so badass! In most of her roles she plays the sweet, slightly dorky best friend. But this bright, cut out dress with that spiky dark hair? Tough as nails & oh-so-sexy!
The third look I adore is Mary-Kate's. Sometimes her style gets a little too bag-lady for me, but this bright 70s dress, paired with the simply, wavy hair & the brght green accessories is just the right amount of street-boho mixed with red carpet elegance.
My last favorite is Diane Kruger. She is always so elegant and classy & this is no exception. The exposed leg balances out with the more covered top, and damn, if I had legs like that I'd show them off too! The classic red lip goes perfectly with her soft blonde waves as well.
Which look would you want to be strut on a red carpet? I think I'd go with the ballerina princess look, let's be honest.

theme party 2: I Love the 90s
90s teen (think Saved by the Bell) & Hit Me Baby One More time
90s Hip Hop artist
Raleigh went for the grunge look
Old school flirting ;)
Backstreet Boy
My other roommate (on the left) went for a preppy 90s look--think Cher in Clueless!
My dress was ridiculous..tight, bright, scratchy, stretchy, and sparkly with these crazy straps. Needless to say, I had a ball wearing it.
Check the scrunchie & the ridiculous strappy kitten heels. Too good.

mother's day remix
I surprised my mama by coming home on Saturday night and staying through Sunday afternoon for Mother's Day. She was very happily surprised! I've been planning the suprise visit since last week, so I was pretty excited, too. We had a wonderful weekend together, including the most amazing lunch on Sunday: steak, scallops, grilled veggies, corn on the cob, and garlic bread with coffee ice cream for dessert. To a college kid, it was the ultimate feast & one of the many perks of visiting home! Huckleberry Finn kept a close watch on the table, as you can see--he's the best pup in the whole wide world.

Mother's Day love
Celebrating with my mama today, so extremely thankful that God gave me the mother he did. I see myself slowly (but surely) turning into her and let me tell you, I don't hate it! Some old photos of my gorgeous mom:
And of her mother, my grandmother: how gorgeous was she? So classy and lovely.

theme party 1: Ponchos!
So, theme parties are my new favorite thing. Last weekend, a friend had a "Poncho Party" & I finally got to wear this leopard print shawl that I've secretly been wanting to wear in public for the past year! I paired it with all black + red lipstick, and played the part of a middled-aged English professor all night, accent and all. It was great. Last night, we threw a 90s Party at our apartment...so much fun! Photos soon. I'm already thinking about more themes for this summer!
