a day in the city

paint
Last week, Raleigh and I both had the day off so we decided on a day trip to Seattle to hang out with my brother and his girlfriend. I've been dying to take a few photos of their apartment on Capitol Hill--it is too boho chic!

She has an art degree and paints beautiful, colorful pieces--she promised me a few for when we move into our new house in September & I cannot wait! So she paints and my brother is a musician, so their apartment is full of art supples, instruments, books, and cats. I didn't get a photo of the whole living room, but they have two big windows that overlook the Seattle skyline and they each have their own workspace in front of a window: easel on one side, mini recording studio on the other.

I love how cozy their apartment is. It is pretty small, but filled to the brim with their different outlets of creativity. How cool is that?

The rest of the day was spent strolling around Lake Washington, drinking iced coffee, and having Thai food on Capitol Hill. A great summer day!

A few days ago, it wasn't too sunny but Raleigh and I were itching to get outside. So we packed a picnic lunch and went to Whatcom Falls to traipse around for a bit. The trails around the falls are beautiful and wild, and I saw my first owl in it's natural habitat! It flew right over our heads, huge and almost camoflauged against the tree trunks. I just love the Pacific Northwest. Can't wait to go on more summer adventures here this summer--bring 'em on!

lets go ride a bike

I went on a 2 & 1/2 hour bike ride today! I haven't ridden my bike in a while and my legs are definitely paying for it tonight, but it was so much & felt so good to be out and active in the sun. A lot of the ride was along the water, and it was beautiful. I was riding with 2 competitive boys, so there was a bit of racing going on, but a lot of just coasting and looking at the water. Can't wait to ride more!

family outing

isn't this adorable? Grandma dancing with her first granddaughter. And you can't see much of the house, but it was a beautifully modern West Seattle home with a great view of the water. Everything was glass, silver, blue, and black but it was so without being cold, which I loved.
my relaxed Mama, feeling oh-so-content to be surrounded by family.

au revoir!
