what to wear: overalls
Last week, Bridget blogged about these overalls she'd thrifted, which she of course looked darling in:
& I've seen some other cuties rockin' the overall look on blogs lately, which led me to further research...

You Are _______ .
Last year, I wrote an article about thrifting for the You Are Project. About a month ago Lauren, co-founder of You Are, asked me if I minded if the article was included in their first print publication--um, no, don't mind at all! ;) We started talking and I am now contributing to You Are twice a month as a fashion columnist, which has already been so fun. I'm honored to be in the same magazine as beautiful, wonderful girls like Kenzie, who's killin' it on the cover, and others! You Are strives to remind girls that they are beautiful, radiant, brilliant, and have a Creator who loves them. Nothing better. xo!

greens & blues
a few sneaks of an afternoon photo adventure I took with my lovely friend Megan last week. I am no photographer, not by any means...I hardly know what I'm doing, in any way, from composition to camera settings to editing...but it is fun to capture moments in such beautiful peoples' lives now & then, isn't it? I often dream of a better camera, different lenses, Photoshop, more knowledge of the camera; but for now I just love the feel of my Nikon in my hands and the world dancing in front of my eyes.
More coming later this week, I just love the washington-winter feel of this small set.
what are your feelings on your photography skills? do you, like me, find it hard not to compare your photo quality with other bloggers? how do you find happiness in your capabilities?

Bellingham LookBook by Matthew Land
Last week I had an opportunity to take some photos with a wonderful local photographer, Matt Land, for a fashion project he's just starting on. He is a wedding photographer looking to merge into fashion a bit more, and is putting together a Bellingham Look Book, a coffee table book featuring local fashion "with an edge". A mutual friend got us in contact and we planned to do some photos the next week...until the sun just happened to show its face last Sunday and I got a last-minute email saying "the sun's out...can you do today?" Admittedly, I was wearing a flannel and a messy bun (lazy Sunday, you can't blame me) so I had to run home & change into something mildly acceptable, but we had a great time! Here are a few he sent me, I'm excited to see the rest! He has a tres chic website & a wonderful blog, and a love for Bellingham that definitely shows. Check him out!

I'm a little late, but here's my Valentine's Day recap via instas. How was your day? I went a little overboard on the pink this year...I can't help it. Holidays are my favorite thing.

idahograms
a few idahograms from our trip a few weeks ago. A few times while making the drive, Evan would tell me I was "missing everything" while choosing the right filter on instagram...but don't worry guys, I did it all for you. No need to thank me, I do it for the love. xo!

glasses by firmoo
Last month, a few of my favorite bloggers (including this super-chic lady) posted about Firmoo, an online optical store. They have sunglasses and glasses, both prescription & non, and this amazing deal where your first pair is free: all you pay is shipping. I've been wanting a new pair of glasses, a little bigger & trendier than my current pair, but don't have a ton of ca$h money to spend--I can't even tell you how many BonLook giveaways I have entered in the last few months--so I was reaal excited when I saw this deal!
I ordered this pair right before Christmas & received them a few weeks into January, and I l-o-o-v-e them. I normally just wear my contacts unless my eyes are particularly tired, but these I have worn almost every day. They are fairly sturdy and fit well. This post isn't sponsored or anything, just wanted to share this opportunity with y'all...I paid $7 for these guys and get compliments on them all the time! Also, I can see. So that's great. Visit their website to order your first pair for free! ps: please ignore the messy hair...Saturday was a low-maintenance day.

afternoon portraits
Last a week, Erin, who attends the college ministry I intern for, asked if I would take a photo of her to send to her boyfriend who just started basic training in Texas. The only communication they have is a 15 minute phone call once a week, which she unfortunately missed last week, so she has taken to writing him a letter every day and sending them all once a week (tres sweet). I, of course, got way too excited about it and offered to style her outfit & do a little photoshoot on my favorite path in Bellingham. She agreed!
Erin's style is a touch more badass than my closet can handle, but she said that her boyfriend likes simple style & that she likes lace--which instantly made me happy on two accounts: one, there's nothing I love more than the pairing of tattoos + a girly dress and two, I just bought this adorable white lace dress from Buffalo Exchange last week. She wanted to keep it a little tougher, so I grabbed my favorite worn-in combat boots & topped it off with a pop of color in the form of my newest garden & sea cowl. We did these shots in about 20 minutes and it felt reaaal good to have someone in front of my camera again, especially for such a sweet reason.
ps: the necklace she is wearing was a gift from her boyfriend before he left. awwwwwww.
