it's the little things

It's amazing how happy I am to sit in a coffee shop alone and peruse blogs and people watch and think about nothing in particular. Right now I'm sitting in The Woods Coffee downtown and eating a chocolate cream cheese muffin (warmed up), and James Taylor is playing (which always reminds me of my mom) and springtime sun is streaming through the windows; and I feel so quietly content. I forgot my headphones, so I'm accidentally eavesdropping on the people around me - but it's alright, writers are allowed to do so. I have hours of schoolwork to do, so I've set up shop for a few hours here, but before I dive in I'm allowing myself about half an hour to look at fashion and beauty and silliness and charm on various blogs, and it feels fine. My mother's hands, from whom I acquired my love of coffee from.

winter, with a touch of spring

Snapshots from yesterday - it seems that Washington can't make up its mind about if it's going to welcome Spring or not! The wind was frozen on the waterfront, the waves were a choppy grey, and there was snow on the ground; but a few pink blossoms stubbornly showed themselves here and there. As for the pup, this is the second time I've seen him at this coffee house - he sits in front of the door and stares in for hours! He played hard-to-get when we tried to play with him, but he is the sweetest thing. You have no idea how tempted I was to let him in to lay by the fire! Unfortunately, I'm forced to listen to humans instead of dogs.

this is my 100th blog post

A quote I stumbled upon today:
Coffee leads men to trifle away their time, scald their chops, and spend their money, all for a little base, black, thick, nasty, bitter, stinking nauseous puddle water.
-The Women's Petition Against Coffee, 1674

I would NOT have liked to be around these women in the morning (or any other time, most likely). Women's Petition Against Coffee?! unhuman.

wasting time in a coffee shop, pt. 36

If you have coffee and pastries at 1 pm does it still count as breakfast? To me and Brittany it still does. Also - you should listen to the song "Swing Tree" by Discovery. So feel-good!
