graduation day

I was on a plane during the commencement for last quarter, so I got to walk in yesterday's graduation & I'm so, so happy I did! It was such a perfect day--my family arrived in the morning armed with homemade quiche & chocolate pie, fresh fruit, flowers, champagne and wine, and so much excitement and pride. I got to walk with my roommate & fellow Creative Writing major/blogger Angela, see my best guy friends after (boys armed with flowers--just killed me), celebrate at my favorite local brewery with my family, and go out with my best friends after an evening cat nap. Not to mention the 2 am chocolate pie we shared.

grown up for a day

Man. Looking at these makes me realize how much I love my school.

First of all, happy Monday! I hope you're all having calm, slow, coffee-filled mornings to ease you back into the work week. As for me, I am spending today on a mini road trip to Snoqualmie Falls--so I really cannot complain.

These are the last of the photos my friend Danielle took for my graduation. This is my "fake adult" look: red lips and a white blouse symbolizes adulthood to me, apparently, but I had to throw in some jeans & my favorite shoes. Because let's be real here, I am no adult. I'm not sure when/if that's happening, but for now I'll have to fake it.

So! I now need your help! Look at this post, this post, and the photos above, and let me know which photo you think should be on my grad announcements. I really have no idea which I like best, & would love your input. Since you're all fashionable and artsy & know what's up. Thanks in advance! xo.

doughnuts and diplomas

I wore this on my last day of classes--I wanted to look slightly adult, which apparently means donning black and white, but I couldn't help throwing in some color with my favorite necklace. I started the morning with Top Pot doughnuts delivered from my brother--a Seattle staple. I ended the night with a Long Island and going dancing with my best friends. Celebrating our accomplishments is a wonderful part of life.
As of today at about 10:17 AM, I am done being a college student. Pending my official grades next week, I will then have an English degree with an emphasis on Creative Writing. In-sane. It also happens to be my mother's birthday, which means we spent the evening in a gorgeous restaurant drinking pomegranate mojitos and cucumber martinis, snacking on fancy cheeses, mussels, and spicy short ribs, and ending with a smoked chocolate torte. I feel a bit strange--the fact that I finished college is a bizarre thought that hasn't quite settled into my mind yet. But I'm adjusting. Here's to the calm before the storm!

What happens in Whister

I went with a group of 11 fun, adventurous, hilarious people to Whister, Canada this weekend for College Weekend 2011. It was my first time to Canada and so so much fun. We laughed, drank (legally! I actually felt like an adult), danced (so much dancing), ate, played, piled into 2 beautiful hotel rooms and altogether had a fabulous time. Besides listening to communication between the numerous frat bros & sorority...girls (a mind-numbing experience), it was interesting to hear so many different accents all around us, mostly Australian and French. My American accent felt clumsy and dull! But regardless, much fun was had by all. Next stop, Vancouver!

NOTE: I wish I would have taken pictures of some of the outfits we saw out in the bars/clubs. Girlfriends were leaving n-o-t-h-i-n-g to the imagination!
