free as a bird

I just turned in my final paper for the quarter, which means that I am now feeling oh-so-free! I am currently rewarding myself with a caramel sauce latte and play time downtown. But more importantly, it means that I have the ability to dress well again. You know, on account of being well-slept for the first time in weeks and stuff. This sweater has quickly become my most prized possession during days spent in the library and coffee shops--really, just ask my boyfriend, who has seen me in it approximately 100 times in the last two weeks. I thrifted this vintage Express skirt months ago and finally got the chance to wear it today...am officially in love with how soft it is and how perfect the length is. Also, my breakfast perfectly matched my outfit this morning. All in all: best day ever. 

Congrats to everyone who is donezo with Fall Quarter! And those of you whose finals are still looming: good luck! There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it is covered in tinsel. xoxo

little tidbits

This blog has been so neglected lately! I feel like an absentee mother. So much has gone on in the last couple weeks & I have a ton of pictures, writing, and stories to share...as soon as finals are over and I can breathe again. Seriously, I've been aching to edit photos/write/blog but have no time. I barely have time to sleep. But, a week from today everything will be turned in & it will be SUMMER! which = free time which = adventures which = photos which = blogs.

I'm going to repeat what every other blogger seems to be saying right now: sorry for such scattered posts! I just started a new job and am trying to balance that with final projects, presentations, papers, and exams. I've taken barely any pictures in the last two weeks, and it's killing me! I miss having my camera in my hands. Luckily I am heading home this weekend for a wedding & two big family parties (my father's birthday & my brother's official mark of 20 years cancer-free, hallelujah!) so I will get to take a ton of fun photos. I'm itchin' to take some. I'll leave you with the list of items I need to acquire before summer:

-floral flats, preferably w/pinks & greens worked in
-some comfy Oxfords
-a cropped denim jacket (never thought I would say that)
-a black leather purse, large enough to fit my laptop (I'm a sucker for tiny side bags, but they never fit my computer, which goes almost everywhere with me)
-classic Raybans (pending on how big my first paycheck is)
-more sun dresses, obvs. I think I need one more maxi & I should be covered.
-coral lipstick
-a brown, braided skinny belt

Gaaaah, I can't stop thinking about going shopping. Thank God I'm now making more money than I'm spending, for the first time in a whiiiiile. Lots to look forward to in the next couple months! If I can only make it through finals...

the small luxuries of a college student

I haven't blogged in 10 days, which is about the day I started getting ready for finals week - this is no coincidence. The last week has been full of coffee, study groups, the library, not enough sleep, tests, papers, notes, stress, and stomach aches, but it feels so, so, so good to be done! Yesterday I was able to sit in a coffee shop with a peppermint steamer and a book and have absolutely nothing that I should have been doing instead. Today I slept in, watched Love Actually with my boyfriend (a Christmas staple) and clean my whole apartment/pack to go home for break. That makes me sound so boring - but it was amazing to do whatever I wanted with my day, even if it was housework! I cannot wait to go home tomorrow and relax, read, bake, eat, party, and go through all of our Christmas traditions!
