guest post: Jamie of Petite Panoply

Hello! I'm Jamie from Petite Panoply and I'm super pumped to be writing a guest post for Charity while she's in Trenton, NJ this week. My blog is primarily filled with outfits I wear (and bits of life strewn among them), so I decided to share a spring outfit with you! There are few color combinations I love more than blue and red. Usually I choose navy blue to pair with red, so this is a bit of a new mix for me!
floral dress: forever 21 | short sleeved cardigan: ann taylor loft - thrifted | holographic flats: forever 21 | sunglasses: kohl's

I just bought these holographic flats at Forever 21 last week. I think it's fun to mix new trends with retro styles. Something about this floral peter pan collar dress and the shiny, holographic shoes just works!
You can't skip the sunglasses once it starts warming up either. It's bright out there!
I'm sure a lot of you are looking at this outfit and wishing for spring to come, but I assure you once it's spring where you live it'll be unbearably hot in Athens, GA! Don't be too jealous of my bare, white legs!

Thanks for reading my guest post and thank you to Charity for giving me the opportunity! Feel free to hop on over to my blog when you're done catching up with Charity's blog!

thanks, Jamie! love this sweet spring look.

guest post: Lauren & Madison of Awkward Girls

spring

Hola C'est La Belle Vie readers! Lauren and Madison here from Awkward Girls Blog.
Here in Utah, things aren't looking so Spring-y, but that doesn't mean we can't pick out a few of our favorite trends this season, right? We are especially loving the bold black and white stripes. And we're firm believers that cheetah print can go with any outfit (plus, how cute are those ears?).

What are some Spring trends you are loving?
A huge thank you to our girl Charity for asking us to visit on her blog today. She is the cutest, and has the biggest heart around.

thank, girls! I'd wear this outfit eerday.

guest post: Angela of If Found, Make.

Last year when I wrote a guest post for Charity's blog, she was on a different mission trip and she would be my roomie again in less than two weeks. Now, we've both graduated college and live in different cities, and even though we're working to collect, photograph, & fill east magnolia vintage with spring goodness, we both currently have full-time commitments and don't get to meet up very often. So I'm happy to be posting about something we love to do: thrift shopping, while she's away!

One thing I loved to do in college was thrift shop for books + clothes. It's safe to say I've amassed quite the collection of vintage & otherwise secondhand treasures.
My favorite recently thrifted books are a US geography book and an English guidebook, both circa the early 1900s.
Of course I've filled a closet with items for the shop, but many of my own clothes have their own stories to tell. One thing I've never been great at is going to a thrift store & leaving with what I actually planned to find.
Last weekend I bought this adorable jacket for an astonishingly low price--it was an unexpected St. Patrick's Day green tag sale, and it is the perfect winter-to-spring piece to complement my wardrobe.

Do you find yourself buying used clothes or housewares? We'd love to hear about your most recent finds.
xo Angela

thanks, Ang! I miss our thrifting adventures so. Find Angela at if found, make.

guest post: Bridget of Deer Circus

dress: free people / wellies: hunter / hat: h&m

as a person who likes to go adventuring, take a lot of photographs -- and get a little muddy in the process -- i may have found the perfect outfit. let me just start by saying that that it was emotionally painful for me to take off this dress after the first day i wore it. i wanted to just go to sleep in it and leave it on forever -- because it's basically a snug, warm pair of stripedy thermals in dress form. oh…and the best part: it tapers at the bottom instead of ballooning out like most maxi dresses. it stays tight against your calves so you can adjust the length, tie it up, tuck it into boots…it's like the skinny-fit jeans equivalent of the frock world: more practical, and more flattering. my favorite way to wear her right now is gracing the tops of short hunter wellies -- preferably in a bright color. but i'm sure i'll think of a thousand different ways to wear her soon enough.

thank you, Bridget! readers, find this gorgeous, stylish lady at the deer circus

leavin' on a jet plane

I'm packing the essentials & taking off to Trenton, NJ at midnight tonight! As part of my internship, I'm taking 18 college students on a volunteer trip to spread some light & joy to the people of Trenton. We'll be volunteering in a day center for disabled adults, a home for elderly people with dementia, a center for pregnant women trying to overcome addictions, an inner-city day care, and a food pantry. I'm nervous, excited, & curious to see what the week holds. Please send your prayers & love our way!

I have four lovely bloggers set to guest blog this week, so keep checking back! Have wonderful works, loves. xo Charity

on sundays, creative energy, and spring fashion

My internship keeps me so busy and, though I love the work I do, it tends to take all of my creative energy. So when I get a Sunday afternoon that I can devote to vintage and photos, writing and simple beauty, it is a rare and wonderful occasion. Here's a sampling of pieces I'll be listing this week. Spring fashion is coming!

the tonic of wildness

“We need the tonic of wildness...At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.”
H.D. Thoreau

We went on a little walk in the woods behind his house. It was cold & almost-dark, deep & gorgeous.

insta lately

1. outfit & decorations for a special women's event I helped throw
2. quiet morning in the perfect little house
3. brunch makings / yesterday's outfit details

my life (job) has been quite busy lately so I am especially appreciating little quiet, simple times; stretching that enchanted time that is the morning as long as I can before heading to work and the real world. I'll say it over & over again: I'm yearning for spring!

waiting for spring

I know I said spring is coming, and it definitely will be here eventually, but it isn't here in Washington yet--hence the sweater and huge warm scarf. However, the scarf was on sale, with the hope of making room for spring clothes, so that's slightly encouraging...right?
I can't wait to have bare legs and blonder hair and wear florals, skirts, sandals, pastels, t-shirts, sun dresses...but for now, I'll settle for deep reds & geometric prints, I suppose. If I must.
Washington spring, vous commencez! (s'il vous plait)

pants: Urban Outfitters, sweater & necklace: Forever 21, scarf: FM, boots: Charlotte Russe

ps: I featured this outfit on my column "intern style" for the you are project! see it here.

photo-walk

a few last shots from my photo-walk with Megan. Just for kicks, on a rainy, grey Saturday meant for snacks & puppy cuddles & Netflix. xo!
