when it's cold outside.

when it's cold outside:
wake up slow & lazily bake scones, to be eaten with homemade jam that tastes like summer.
snuggle up with coffee for two.
love that guilty pup.
bake wonderful things from 1950s Betty Crocker: made with lots of love + lots of butter.
pick the perfect tree.
admire the cold, clear, blue-grey sky.
sit around the table with people who know you inside & out and somehow, some way, love you the most in the world. eat, laugh.
drink red wine & tell your favorite stories, over and over.

how do you stay warm in the winter chill? share your cozy tips. xo.

coming to e. magnolia

Hi loves! Here's a sneak peak of just a few pieces that will be in the shop later this week. I've been too busy to have a chance to photograph & list everything in the last few months, but rest assured I have been collecting some gorgeous pieces..some that will be hard for me to let go of. These will hopefully be listed by the weekend, but browse East Magnolia Vintage now for beautiful Fall + Winter pieces!

Enjoy your long weekends--I hope you all get to be with people you love this weekend. I know I will be. xo.

falling

wake up slow. drink a dirty soy chai in bed. listen to Allen Stone & the Lumineers & Fleetwood Mac & City and Colour. take a walk. snuggle with your loved one. call your mama and your sisters and your best friend. look at those stars, read that book, wander with your camera. work hard and long, but know when to go home. see your friends and bake cookies and eat muffins and drink red wine. eat Thai food & watch Aziz Ansari stand-up. watch movies about superheroes and dreams. visit your childhood home. admire the leaves. feel the cold coming. kiss your dog and laugh with old friends. be curious and be loving.

this is what makes me come alive in the fall. xo.

bits & pieces

I promise I am trying to pay more attention to blogging--I miss photographing and styling and crafting and baking things for this blog so, so much. If I could just get two or three more hours into each day, I would be bursting with posts. Alas, life slows down for no man (or lady). Here are a few shots from the last few months that I'd forgotten about until this quiet Sunday evening. Hope you are all currently as cozy as I am: big comfy bed piled high with blankets, vanilla chai with cinnamon & (extra) whipped cream, Feist playing on Spotify, and warm wool socks. It's the little things.

Autumn Essentials

the softest, sweetest sweater from Forever 21 / new Fall shades: "miss fancy pants" & "spinning again" from Essie / darling shoes a dear friend thrifted for me / new reading material, a surprise from my sweet-toothed boyfriend

The calendar says October and though the summer's blue sky hasn't given way to the classic Seattle grey yet, the streets are lined with shockingly red leaves that will soon snuggle against the grass and I am now accepting Autumn. Summer was magical, but I'm ready for a new season in more ways than one. So, Fall, come on in, and bring with you sweaters and lovely colors and pretty shoes and pumpkin-flavored treats and  foggy mornings and cozy nights. I promise I'll love you right back. xo.

polka dots and messy hair

Good morning! On this sunny Fall day, I have juuust enough time (before I have to get out of bed) for a teeny, tiny outfit post. Finally! I wore this outfit to church a few weeks ago. I apologize for the quality of these photos, but I'm having lots of camera/space/time issues currently, so you'll have to excuse me. As soon as I get a new remote + tripod, figure out what's going on with my Nikon (the autofocus is currently a bit ill) & find a space in my new house to take better photos, I'll be back. Because Fall fashion is here and no matter how busy I get, I can't keep out of that conversation. Sweaters, scarves, boots, mittens, red lips....bien sur!
